Making an impact

My work in the business world is often my most rewarding.  Through assessing your needs, I find out what is standing in the way of your message coming through loud and clear, and then draw from a multitude of resources in order to help you dissolve it.  Regardless of where you begin, the results of the work will be your ideas more clearly and authentically expressed, creating better business communication from the most ordinary of day-to-day interactions to a podium at a conference.

"It's official...you guys rock!" Ian Collingwood, COO of SBC Barcelona, sharing the feedback from the 2016 pitch training part of the accelerator program. "Just got the post-program feedback from the teams and in terms of Pitch Training, we've moved from almost the bottom of the league last year to the top this year. Thank you darlings!"

This excellent accelerator program had found 11 exciting startups to mentor and asked Phil Bliss - a talented UK communications coach - and myself to guide them through the skills they would need for a pitch to around 400 potential investors at the Mobile World Congress - 4YFN Demo Day.

They were an open and brilliant bunch of thinkers and developers, and ended up giving the most dynamic pitches among the competition.

In a short time I changed a lot of things... The main lesson for me, what I received from Alyssa and Phillip, is relaxing. If you feel relaxation for you is better to be natural and easy to find common contact with audience. ... I am very much obliged to Alyssa and Phillip for these lessons! Highly recommend for people who’d like to improve their own pitches.

For millions of years, mankind lived just like the animals. Then something happened which  unleashed the power of our imagination. We learned to talk and we learned to listen. Speech has allowed the communication of ideas, enabling human beings to work together to build the impossible. Mankind’s greatest achievements have come about by talking, and its greatest failures by not talking. It doesn’t have to be like this. Our greatest hopes could become reality in the future. With the technology at our disposal, the possibilities are unbounded. All we need to do is make sure we keep talking.

Via SBC Barcelona, this was a chance to work with young companies from Kenya, Ghana, Brazil and Tanzania who were participating in a contest for businesses focused on resource-efficient solutions.  Working with Phil Bliss again, our pitch-training was brief but intense and the speakers grew by leaps and bounds.  At the Smart City Expo, all five of the teams were able to deliver the best version of their message.
